Lighting

Better lighting starts beyond the fixture count.

Better lighting starts beyond the fixture count.

Look at the work plane

Lighting performance depends on the light reaching the area where a task happens. Fixture count alone does not describe distribution, glare, shadowing, or suitability.

Account for the building

Mounting height, rack placement, surface reflectance, maintenance, and daylight affect the result. A lumen-method calculator is a useful preliminary estimate but cannot replace a photometric layout.

Review the operating schedule

Lighting energy depends on installed power and operating hours. Zoning, daylight use, and better scheduling may be worth evaluating before changing all fixtures.

Measure before redesign

Use a lux survey and a layout review to identify uneven areas. Confirm task requirements and project criteria with the assessment team.

A BETTER BUILDING STARTS WITH A BETTER QUESTION

Numbers are a starting point. A building assessment connects them to how your building actually operates.
